Green Sea Turtles are an endangered spieces. They have been around for 100 million years, but human impacts are threatening their exisitence. Green Sea Turtles are so badly endangered that they are protected by the Endangered Spieces Act. There are only around 85,000-90,0000 left.
The biggest threat to green sea turtles is accidentally captured by fishermen. Scientists estimate that millions of sea turtles have acciendtally been captured since 1990.
Another big thing that affect the life of sea turtles is pollution. Plastic, oil spills and chemical runoff into the ocean all impact the life of sea turtles. A study has found plastic in the stomachs of more than one third of dead leatherback turtles since 1968. Working to protect the enviroment and keeping the ocean clean can help reduce the pollution in the oceans.
